Klobuchar Statement on the Anniversary of 9/11
September 11, 2012
WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar today issued the following statement on the eleventh anniversary of the attacks on September 11th, 2001:
“We will never forget the horror and heartbreak of that day eleven years ago, when Osama Bin Laden and his followers committed an act of unspeakable evil against the American people.
“Two-thousand eight-hundred and nineteen innocent Americans were murdered on 9/11 and our thoughts and prayers will always be with the loved ones of those who lost their lives. In Minnesota, we especially remember our native sons like Tom Burnett, Jr. and Max Beilke.
"On this eleventh anniversary of the terrorist attacks, we honor the memory of all those who died on September 11. We recognize the incredible bravery of our first responders, who risked their lives to save the lives of others. And we recommit ourselves to the values and freedoms that the terrorists sought—and failed—to destroy.
“No amount of evil could ever extinguish the great beacon of American Democracy. No amount of suffering could ever undermine the freedoms we cherish. Let us pay tribute to those we lost by remaining strong, proud, and committed to the values we share as Americans.”
