AUSTIN, Minn. – Area veterans are learning a little bit more about what resources are available for them.

Staff members with U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar’s office and U.S. Rep. Tim Walz’s office are touring southern Minnesota to remind veterans of what is out there.

Some of the topics included health care services, educational benefits and job opportunities on the local, state and federal level.

Local veterans say they appreciate the opportunity to voice their concerns.

“We all hear complaints. Some people complain a lot and some have legitimate complaints. If you do have a complaint and it’s legitimate, we want to see how we can resolve it. I think by talking to these people we certainly can do it,” said Veteran Norm Hecimovich.

The Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs, the Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans and DEED are all taking part in the tour.
