Companion legislation introduced by Rep. Bachmann recently passed the House with the support of Minnesota’s entire Congressional delegation

WASHINGTON, DC –U.S. Senators Amy Klobuchar and Al Franken introduced legislation to rename the Cold Spring, MN Post Office the “Officer Tommy Decker Memorial Post Office” in honor of fallen Cold Spring Police Officer Tommy Decker. Companion legislation introduced by Rep. Michelle Bachmann recently passed the House with the support of Minnesota’s entire Congressional delegation. Officer Decker was killed in the line of duty on November 29, 2012 in Cold Spring, MN.

“Officer Decker lost his life serving his community, knowingly putting himself in harm’s way to protect others,” Klobuchar said. “While he is no longer with us, renaming the Cold Spring Post Office in his memory is a fitting tribute to the life he lived and the spirit of service he embodied.”

“Law enforcement is our first line of defense in keeping Minnesotans safe,” Franken said. “Officer Decker gave his life while protecting his community of Cold Spring, and although he continues to be missed dearly by family and friends, this gesture will serve as a lasting reminder of his life, his heroism, and his sacrifice.”
