Klobuchar took to Senate floor today to urge VA to hold bad actors accountable and implement reforms to prevent similar incidents
WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar today issued the following statement regarding the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Inspector General (IG) report that two VA administrators, including one in Minnesota, exploited their authority for their own personal financial gain. The VA IG also referred the case to the U.S. Department of Justice for potential criminal prosecution.
“This conduct documented in the Inspector General’s report is unacceptable and further erodes the public’s trust in the VA,” said Klobuchar. “It is commendable that the VA Inspector General took action by referring these two cases to the U.S. Attorney for possible criminal prosecution. The VA needs to do right by our veterans and taxpayers by holding bad actors accountable and implementing reforms to prevent exploitation like this from ever happening again.”
