Washington, D.C. (NNCNOW.com) -- A U.S. lawmaker from Minnesota is celebrating the passage of the Federal Aviation Administration reauthorization bill in the Senate.

U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar says the bill will improve passenger safety, take advantage of the newest technology and update certification requirements for aviation manufacturers.

Klobuchar says the bill will be extra beneficial for airports in International Falls, Hibbing and Duluth because it calls for more support for small airport programs.

She adds that additional airport security could be critical for St. Louis County, which holds high standards for combatting sex trafficking.

"It also contains a provision that I authored to go after some of the sex trafficking - it requires that the employees be trained," Sen. Klobuchar said.

Sen. Klobuchar adds that the bill builds on voluntary efforts to encourage airline personnel to report trafficking to law enforcement.
