WASHINGTON, DC — Today at a ceremony at the White House, U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar congratulated the Minnesota Lynx on winning the 2015 Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) Championship. This is the third WNBA championship for the Lynx in five years. President Obama honored the Minnesota Lynx for winning the championship in the East Room of the White House on Monday afternoon. The team previously met with President Obama in 2012 and 2014 after winning championships.

"Year after year, the Minnesota Lynx keep making history and setting records. They are one of just four teams to ever win three or more WNBA championships,” Klobuchar said. “I congratulate the Lynx and fans across our state on a stellar season and the 2015 WNBA Championship. The hard work and dedication exemplified by the players, coaches, and staff should make all Minnesotans proud.”

Last year, Klobuchar and Senator Al Franken’s resolution congratulating the Lynx on their historic 2015 championship win passed the Senate unanimously. In the resolution, the senators recognized the work of the Lynx, who won their third WNBA Championship in five years. The resolution also recognized the state of Minnesota for its enthusiastic support for the team and women’s professional basketball.
