The nomination of Judge Erica MacDonald will now go to the full Senate for confirmation

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) today announced that the nomination of First Judicial District Judge Erica MacDonald to serve as the U.S. Attorney for the District of Minnesota passed the Senate Judiciary Committee. Klobuchar urged her colleagues to support MacDonald based on her extensive legal experience. Her nomination will now go to the full Senate for confirmation.

“Judge MacDonald is a dedicated public servant who is well-qualified to serve as Minnesota’s next US Attorney. I had a good meeting with her earlier this year and I told the Department of Justice and the Administration that she would be a good candidate for the job,” Klobuchar said. “She received strong bipartisan support during today’s Judiciary Committee hearing and I expect a swift confirmation in the Senate.”

Judge MacDonald was appointed as District Judge by Governor Tim Pawlenty on January 15, 2010, and was re-elected in November of 2012. Previously, she served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Minnesota.
