WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) released the statement below following the agreement announced between Russia and Turkey to joint control of Kurdish territory in Syria.

“Today’s agreement between Russia and Turkey is yet another example of how this President’s foreign policy benefits Russia to the detriment of our allies and our own national security interests. This Administration’s decision to abandon our Kurdish allies has damaged U.S. credibility, our interests in the region, and the safety of the Kurdish people. Turkey has now achieved its longstanding goal of pushing back the Kurds.”
