WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), Ranking Member of the Senate Rules Committee with oversight jurisdiction over federal elections, issued the following statement in response to the Republican proposal addressing the effects of the coronavirus pandemic that failed to include funding to protect elections during the pandemic.

“This proposal fails to help states safely administer elections during the pandemic by providing resources and expanding options for Americans to vote. I’ve been pushing for emergency election funding since the beginning of the pandemic, and at a hearing in the Rules Committee just last week we heard bipartisan agreement from Senators and election administrators that states desperately need additional funding. With just under 100 days until the election, we need a plan to make sure voters don’t have to choose between their health and their right to vote.”
