Minnesota political icon Walter Mondale died Monday at the age of 93.

Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar reacted to Mondale's death, calling him her mentor.

She said Minnesotans saw him as an amazing leader who made a difference on the national stage but also came home after losing with dignity and humor.

Klobuchar said he loved northern Minnesota and as Vice President, worked to save the foghorn in Duluth.

"He never forgot where he came from. He loved going up to Northern Minnesota. He loved the work on transportation and roads and bridges in Duluth and what was lucky for ur state was he took that on, not just as Senator but as Vice President of the United States," said Klobuchar.

She said Mondale's lasting impact on politics will be dignity and civility.

According to Klobuchar, he treated everyone with respect, regardless of their job or political views.
