WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), Chairwoman of the Senate Rules Committee with jurisdiction over federal elections and campaign finance law, issued the following statement on the Supreme Court’s ruling in Americans for Prosperity Foundation v. Bonta:

“Today’s ruling is another step backward for Americans who want to know who is paying to influence our democracy. Undisclosed secret money undermines Americans’ faith in our elections and shakes the public’s trust in our system of government.

“This ruling further underscores the need for Congress to pass legislation to get big money out of politics and ensure that our democracy works for the people, not for special interests and billionaires.”
