WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), Chairwoman of the Senate Committee on Rules and Administration with oversight of federal elections and campaign finance law, issued the statement below following the Rules Committee’s bipartisan vote to advance Dara Lindenbaum’s nomination to be Commissioner of the Federal Election Commission (FEC) to the full Senate.

“Today we are seeing increased efforts by special interests and foreign adversaries to influence our democracy and an unprecedented rise in secret money flooding our elections. These threats underscore the importance of having qualified, dedicated commissioners at the FEC to ensure accountability in our elections,” said Klobuchar. “As a campaign finance and election lawyer at a civil rights nonprofit and in private practice, Dara Lindenbaum has the experience necessary to be a fair and effective commissioner who can build consensus with her colleagues. I am glad that her nomination now heads to the Senate floor with bipartisan backing, and I urge my colleagues to support her swift confirmation.”
