WASHINGTON - Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) and Representative Pete Stauber (R-MN) led the Minnesota delegation in sending a letter to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requesting that they expedite reviews and approvals required for Duluth International Airport (DLH) to apply for grant funding to build a new air traffic control tower.

“Duluth International Airport provides a vital service, helping to accelerate business growth, strengthen our state and local economy, support our military, and connect Minnesotans to the world,” said Klobuchar. “As the third oldest air traffic control tower in the country, Duluth’s tower is in need of critical updates to increase safety and improve efficiency at this airport. I am proud to lead the bipartisan effort with Representative Stauber to do just that.”

“The Duluth International Airport is an important economic driver for our Arrowhead communities as it connects the Northland to the rest of the world. Unfortunately, the airport’s air traffic control tower is outdated and deteriorating, putting commercial, cargo and medical flight operations at risk. I’m proud to lead this request to the FAA so the airport can quickly submit a successful application because this much-needed improvement will help our region prosper,” said Stauber.
