MOORHEAD, Minn. (KVRR) — Staff for Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar met with leaders and advocates for the senior community on the issues seniors are facing.

The meeting started with a video of Klobuchar thanking everyone for coming, and promising to continue working with her fellow senators on both sides of the isle.

Seniors say they are having issues finding transportation to medical appointments, finding drivers for meal delivery programs, and the rising number of scams targeting seniors.

They are also concerned about the future of Social Security.

“We’re told that there’s probably going to be a 30% to 40% cut in funding to senior services for those agencies that we depend on a very small amount of revenue so that we can provide the services that we do,” said Peggy Chisholm of REACH.

Klobuchar’s staff said they will take the concerns brought up at the meeting and bring them to the senator.
