U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) congratulated Michael Howard and Lincoln Gentry of Edina, who will attend West Point after being nominated by Klobuchar.

21 Minnesota students nominated by Klobuchar accepted their appointment to either the Naval Academy, Air Force Academy, Merchant Marine Academy, or West Point, and were selected after a highly competitive application process.

Howard will attend the United States Naval Academy. Gentry will attend the United States Military Academy.

In a press release, Klobuchar said it is an honor to nominate some of Minnesota’s most talented and skilled young people, like Howard and Gentry, and is confident that they will make Minnesota proud.

To be considered for a nomination, candidates should have a strong academic background, participation in school and community activities, a high standard of physical fitness and a desire to be challenged to the fullest.
