U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar has taken to Twitter to defend the sport of curling.

Klobuchar responded to fellow U.S. Senator John Cornyn, (R) Texas, after he tweeted that curling is "the most obscure Olympic sport. What is the point?"

She said curling is not obscure in Minnesota, and points out more than 20 members of the Winter Olympic team are from Minnesota.

"I was very surprised that he said that curling was an obscure sport, as if he had never heard of it, and then I found out only three members of the entire Olympic Winter team are from Texas - I guess they don't get enough snow down there - and we have 21 in Minnesota, and we have the third biggest group of them, and of course we have 7 out of the 10 on the curling team," said Klobuchar.

She has also invited Cornyn to visit Minnesota so she can take him curling, which she says is almost as good as a rodeo.

No word yet on if he has accepted the invitation.
