Ada, MN -- United States Senator Amy Klobuchar made stops throughout the region here Friday as part of her 10 County Rural Economy Tour, including visits to Weave Got Maille in Ada and with the Mahnomen FFA program. R & J News Director Mark Askelson spoke with Senator Klobuchar after her stop in Ada.

Other stops on Friday included Detroit Lakes and Moorhead.

On Saturday, February 25, U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar will continue her “10-County Rural Economy Tour” across Western Minnesota. Klobuchar will meet with business leaders, young farmers, and entrepreneurs to discuss priorities for the 2018 Farm Bill along with the need to expand broadband access and support small businesses in rural communities. She will also join rural hospital officials to discuss the importance of improving healthcare delivery and lowering prescription drug costs.

As a member of the Senate Agriculture Committee and a 2014 Farm Bill Conference Committee member, Klobuchar successfully pushed for key provisions in the current Farm Bill – including measures to support rural development projects, conservation programs, agricultural research, and the Rural Energy for America (REAP) program. Last month, her staff held public forums throughout the state to hear firsthand from Minnesotans about their priorities for the legislation’s 2018 reauthorization. In the Senate, Klobuchar has championed bipartisan efforts to address the high cost of prescription drugs, authoring multiple pieces of legislation that would protect American consumers.

Klobuchar will also visit FFA chapters in Glenwood and Ashby to kick off National FFA week with Minnesota students.
