U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar helped Twins legend Tony Oliva reunite with his brother ahead of his Major League Baseball Hall of Fame induction.

Senator Klobuchar says they were first told they couldn’t get Oliva’s brother in from Cuba for two years, well after the Hall of Fame ceremony. After pushing back Oliva’s brother’s visa has now been secured.

Juan Carlos Oliva is expected to arrive in Minnesota Monday, well ahead of the induction ceremony later this month in Cooperstown, N.Y.

Klobuchar says it shouldn’t be so difficult for Cubans and Americans to visit each other. She says “If it’s possible for a kid from Cuba, when relations were at the hardest, to somehow get over to America and play baseball and become a Hall of Famer, it’s possible to change foreign policy when it comes to Cuba”.
