WASHINGTON — Wild rice bread from Raphael’s Bakery Café in Bemidji is making its way here for an inauguration event.

U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar, DFL-Minn., said Tuesday that she will host an open house 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday in her Senate office for Minnesotans in the nation’s capital to attend Tuesday’s inauguration ceremonies for President-elect Barack Obama.

The open house will feature foods from all over Minnesota, with Raphael’s representing Beltrami County.

The Minnesota Democrat visits all 87 counties annually. After tasting favorite local foods at several stops, she decided to showcase the Minnesota foods at the weekly Thursday morning coffee gatherings in her Washington office, and has extended that to her inauguration open house.

Klobuchar’s office is Suite 302 of the Hart Senate Office Building. She asks constituents planning on attending to RSVP by calling 202-224-3244.

Klobuchar also announced the launch of a new part of her Web site designed to help constituents prepare for attending inauguration week events at klobuchar.senate.gov/inaugurationevents.cfm).

The new site provides helpful information for Minnesotans traveling to Washington to take advantage of events surrounding the inauguration, including details of the open house and a preview of the foods from Minnesota constituents will be served during the open house.
