n Thursday, U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar came to check out a new customs facility at the Rochester International Airport – a facility in which she played a vital role in funding.

In 2016, Klobuchar helped to secure a $7.3 million Federal Aviation Administration grant to get the facility an upgrade.

Her goal behind the project is to keep Rochester on the map as an international city. The new customs facility is a safe and easy way to do that.

Klobuchar says seeing the project come full circle is a great way to come off an election win.

“Well it was very exciting because I was there when we announced it and now I get to see it – which is always fun. Its also fun to work on projects like this,” Senator Klobuchar said. “There’s no democratic or republican customs we are all one state now. And it’s also a great thing to do after the election.”

Klobuchar adds that tourists coming into Minnesota will on average spend about $4,000 in a singular trip. Meaning the expansion will help to create a thriving economy for destination medical center and other local business in Rochester.
