The Secure and Responsible Drug Disposal Act will expand prescription drug take back programs.

Long term care facilities and families will have new options to get rid of leftover pills before they fall into the wrong hands.

"If you go to buy some shampoo, you can bring back and drop off some old prescription drugs,” Sen. Klobuchar said. “We know that keeping them in the medicine cabinet can lead to addiction."

Klobuchar says over 4 million pounds of prescription medications have been removed from circulation through seven National Take-Back Days, over the last four years.
