U.S. Senators Amy Klobuchar and Tina Smith, and U.S. Representative Rick Nolan announced on Tuesday that the U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded Park Rapids Municipal Airport a grant of $132,680 for infrastructure improvements.
"By investing in infrastructure upgrades at Park Rapids Municipal Airport, we are strengthening the region's economy for years to come," Klobuchar said in a news release. "This grant will also help support good-paying, local jobs now."
"When we invest in infrastructure, we invest in our economy," said Smith. "I'm excited to see how the improvements at Park Rapids Municipal Airport will bring additional opportunities to Greater Minnesota."
"Making investments in our transportation and infrastructure systems is key to strengthening Minnesota's economy," said Nolan. "These resources will help improve airport safety in Park Rapids and go a long way toward updating Minnesota's overall transportation infrastructure."
This grant will allow the airport to fund runway rehabilitation and safety upgrades.
