US Senator Amy Klobuchar continued to push on the senate floor for students to get affordable education.

The Bank on Students Emergency Loan Refinancing Act would allow student loan borrowers to refinance their high–interest loans to lower rates. That new rate would depend on the type of loan they received.

Sen. Amy Klobuchar said this on the senate floor, "Higher education provides students with the skills they need to be competitive in today's global economy. At a time where more and more jobs require some sort of post-secondary school, we can't allow cost to be a barrier to that opportunity. We can't allow the wealthy to only be able to send their kids to college it's really that simple."

According to a press release from today, Senator Klobuchar used her families personal experience to push for the refinancing act. She said, "It would not have happened without education. Outstanding student loans now, they are not like something you can fit in a coffee can. They are dragging us down by the millions, and we must consider this common sense bill so more students can manage their debt and build a better future for themselves and their family."
