A bill designed to help with border security, passed the U.S. Senate today.
Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar co-sponsored the Cross-Border Enhancement Act of 2015.
The legislation is designed to improve efficiency at both the Mexican and Canadian borders when it comes to trade.
Klobuchar told Fox 21 that the legislation would lead to hiring more border security agents at locations like International Falls.
"We've had big issues with the I-Falls border crossings," Klobuchar said. "It was built in the early 90s and it really can't accommodate at peak times a lot of the traffic we see back and forth."
Klobuchar has high hopes the legislation will also pass in the U.S. House of Representatives.
