Northeast Region - U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar

One of the most beautiful areas of the state, northeastern Minnesota includes the Iron Range, the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, and Minnesota’s North Shore, which stretches from Duluth to Grand Portage along Lake Superior. In this region you’ll also find International Falls along the U.S.-Canadian border and the Brainerd Lakes area in central Minnesota, a top vacation destination for people from all over the country. The economy includes mining, manufacturing, logging, paper production, farming, and tourism, to name a few.

Senator Klobuchar’s dad, Jim, grew up in Ely and she frequently returns to her northern Minnesota roots to visit the mines, local small businesses, and paper mills. Her family often takes their vacations on the North Shore of Lake Superior or on one of northern Minnesota’s beautiful lakes and parks.
