WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar released the following statement after President Obama’s State of the Union address.
“Tonight the President underscored the importance of taking action to expand economic opportunity and increase America’s competitiveness in the global economy. The bipartisan budget work of the last few months and the recently announced Farm Bill agreement are positive signs that we can get things done, and we need to build on this bipartisan momentum in the year ahead.
“To move our economy forward, we need to pursue a competitive agenda for the country that’s focused on reforming our immigration system, strengthening science and math education, raising the minimum wage, investing in research and innovation, and improving workforce training. I was proud to be joined by Mayo Clinic President Dr. John Noseworthy for the President’s speech tonight. From cutting-edge scientific research to creative workforce training partnerships, Mayo embodies the innovative spirit that will help power our economy forward in the 21st century.
“Now is the time to move past the gridlock and come together and get to work on these commonsense solutions to lift up our country.”
