WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar today issued the following statement on the passing of former Minnesota Governor Wendell Anderson:
“I am saddened to hear about the passing of Wendell Anderson, the son of a truck driver from St. Paul’s East Side who rose to become one of our state’s great governors. An Army veteran and Olympic medalist in hockey, Wendy also served as a state legislator, U.S. Senator, and a University of Minnesota regent. My parents saved and passed on to me a copy of the 1973 Time magazine with Governor Anderson beaming and holding up a northern pike with the words ‘The Good Life in Minnesota’ emblazoned on the cover. With his groundbreaking work on state education funding through the ‘Minnesota Miracle’ to his sunny optimism about our state, he truly gave us ‘the good life’ in Minnesota. My thoughts are with his family today.”
