WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) released the statement below in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day:

“Today as we remember Dr. King, we celebrate his passion and perseverance. Dr. King understood better than anyone that the path to progress is neither short nor without obstacles. Still, he pursued justice every day of his life, never giving up hope or backing down even in the toughest of times. He recognized that ‘Change does not roll in on the wheels of inevitability, but comes through continuous struggle.’

“As we observe this holiday and pay tribute to Dr. King’s remarkable legacy, let us recommit ourselves to building the more just society he envisioned. Let us continue his fight to achieve equality in all facets of life, from pushing for affordable health care and housing to protecting the right to vote. And let us carry on his torch to advance justice for all.”
