WASHINGTON, D.C.–U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar today released an interactive county-by-county map on her website showing how Minnesota families would benefit if the payroll tax cut is extended through the end of 2012. In December, Congress passed a two month extension of the payroll tax cut, which expires at the end of February. Without the payroll tax cut extension, the average Minnesotan would pay an additional $525 and a family would see an average tax increase of $1050.

“During these challenging economic times, the last thing middle class families need is a tax hike,” said Sen. Klobuchar. “This will allow Minnesotans to see how the payroll tax cut directly impacts them, and highlights the need for Democrats and Republicans to come together and extend this critical tax cut to help boost the economy and support Minnesota families.”

The county-by-county interactive map can be viewed here.

Below is a breakdown of the savings to the average worker and two-worker household for each county in Minnesota. The full report, which was based on U.S. Census data and compiled by the U.S. Congress Joint Economic Committee (JEC), can be found here.
