The nominations of Judge Nancy Brasel and Eric Tostrud will now go to full Senate for confirmation
WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) today announced that Judge Nancy Brasel and Eric Tostrud’s nominations to serve on the United States District Court for the District of Minnesota have passed the Senate Judiciary Committee. Klobuchar urged her colleagues to support Brasel and Tostrud based on their extensive legal experience in Minnesota. The nominations of Brasel and Tostrud will now go to the full Senate for confirmation.
“Both Judge Brasel and Eric Tostrud are highly respected in Minnesota, and their extensive legal experience make them well-qualified for the job,” Senator Klobuchar said. “The strong bipartisan support that they received at today’s hearing should provide the foundation for a swift confirmation.”
Brasel has served as District Court Judge for Minnesota’s Fourth Judicial District since 2011. Before joining the bench, she served as an Assistant United States Attorney in Minnesota. Earlier in her career, Judge Brasel spent more than a decade in private practice at the law firms Stinson Leonard Street and Greene Espel.
Tostrud, born in St. Paul, Minnesota, is Of Counsel at Lockridge Grindal Nauen in Minneapolis, where he has been a part of the firm since 1992. Tostrud is also a Professor and Distinguished Practitioner in Residence at the Mitchell Hamline School of Law.
