WASHINGTON -- U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), Ranking Member of the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Antitrust, Competition Policy and Consumer Rights, issued the following statement after 38 states and territories filed an antitrust lawsuit against Google, alleging that the company has illegally maintained its monopoly in online search and search advertising, and a day after 10 states filed a separate antitrust lawsuit relating to Google’s ad technology business practices.
“Google continues to dominate online search and ad technology markets by undermining rivals and limiting competition. It’s good to see that two groups of state attorneys general have filed additional antitrust claims against the company. I strongly supported the Justice Department’s lawsuit and I look forward to increased cooperation between the Justice Department and state enforcers to take action against Google’s anticompetitive business practices.”
