Washington, DC – U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar today made the following statement after Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Julius Genachowski announced he is stepping down. Klobuchar is a member of the Senate Commerce Committee.

“As chair of the FCC, Chairman Genachowski has worked tirelessly to modernize our nation’s communications infrastructure and help make sure every American has access to the critical technology they need to succeed in the 21st century. I have worked closely with the Chairman on a number of issues to expand consumer access to the Internet, improve rural phone service, and advance consumer rights in the communications marketplace. I wish Chairman Genachowski the best in his future endeavors and I look forward to working with the next chair of the FCC to continue to connect all of America, protect consumers and promote competition.”
