WASHINGTON- U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, released the below statement following the resignation of Attorney General Jeff Sessions at the request of the President:
“Now that the President has made Jeff Sessions resign, it is more important than ever that the Special Counsel’s investigation continue without any interference. This happened the day after the mid-term Elections for one reason—the President didn’t want the American people to hold him accountable for making the Attorney General resign. No one is above the law.
“Given Acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker’s prior statements regarding the Special Counsel’s investigation, he should recuse himself in order to preserve the independence of the investigation.”
