WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) issued the following statement on the bipartisan infrastructure agreement announced today:

“Our 21st century economy demands 21st century infrastructure, and this bipartisan deal brings us one step closer to making that a reality. In addition to investing in highways, bridges, public transit, and other key transportation priorities, this agreement also outlines major funding for broadband based on my legislation with Rep. Clyburn to bring high-speed internet to every family in America.

“It also has provisions from my bills to combat distracted driving, help nonprofits and places of worship save money on energy efficiency upgrades, create a Chief Travel and Tourism Officer at the Department of Transportation (DOT), support the DOT as it works to crack down on human trafficking, and provide our veterans with a seat at the table as the Department develops a strategy for modernizing the transportation workforce. This bill is an investment in our nation’s future, and I look forward to it passing the Senate and being signed into law.”
