WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar has released the following statement on the agreement that was reached between the U.S. sugar industry and the Department of Commerce to bring Mexican sugar into compliance with U.S. trade laws:

“This agreement is an important win for U.S. sugar growers and workers who for too long have been hurt by Mexico’s ability to side-step U.S. trade laws. I’m grateful to Secretary Ross and Secretary Perdue for taking this important step toward ensuring that our sugar producers can compete on a level playing field, and I’ll continue to work with the Administration to ensure this agreement is enforced and our policies are supportive of the sugar industry in Minnesota and around the country.”
