MINNEAPOLIS, MN – On Monday, January 14th, U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar will kick off a two-day Homegrown Energy Tour to discuss ethanol, biodiesel, wind, and solar energy and the importance of energy production to Minnesota’s economy and America’s national security. Klobuchar highlighted Minnesota energy as the U.S. has reduced its dependency on foreign liquid fuels since 2005. Klobuchar will make stops in Olivia, Granite Falls, Dawson , Ivanhoe, and Marshall.
Klobuchar will start the day with an economic development discussion with local officials at the Masters Coffee Shop & Bakery in Olivia.
Klobuchar will then tour the Granite Falls Energy ethanol plant in Granite Falls and meet with employees and company officials.
Klobuchar will then meet with local government officials and USDA officials at the Lincoln County Courthouse in Ivanhoe and discuss issues important to the community.
Klobuchar will also take a tour of the Agricultural Utilization Research Institute (AURI) in Marshall. AURI is a nonprofit corporation that works to improve the economy of rural Minnesota through value-added uses of farm commodities.
