Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar today met with members of the University of Minnesota women’s hockey team to congratulate them on winning the 2012-2013 NCAA Division I National Championship. Today, members of the national championship team will be honored at a White House reception with President Obama.
“The Gophers did it again in 2013 – capping off a thrilling undefeated season by taking home the national title for a second straight year,” Klobuchar said. “This team has proven over and over that they have the guts and heart to compete and win at the highest level. I couldn’t be prouder of what this dedicated group of women has accomplished and congratulate them on this well-deserved honor.”
The defending national champion Gophers posted a perfected 41-0 season in 2012-2013, beating Boston University 6-3 in the Division I National Championship game. The back-to-back national champions will be celebrated at an event today at the White House with President Obama.
