Lawmakers are expected to conference the farm bill when they return from recess. Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar says the Senate version of the farm bill is a good bill. “I think number one is the safety net stays in place for all of our commodities. That’s important and they were all fine with it. The energy title is strong. We’ve got really crazy things going on right now where the EPA Administrator has been granting waivers to oil companies from the Renewable Fuel Standard. It’s important to fully fund the energy title.” Dairy is also addressed in the Senate’s farm bill. “We want to make sure we’re not dependent on foreign food and foreign milk.”

The Fourth of July is about the patriots who risked everything to establish a new nation based on life, liberty and equality. And on this anniversary of our nation’s independence, there’s no better time to honor those who continue to defend and serve this great country.
