WASHINGTON - U.S. Senators Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) and Tina Smith (D-MN) announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) has awarded the Mankato Regional Airport a grant of more than $800,000 for infrastructure improvements.

“Critical investments in our infrastructure serve as a down payment on the long-term economic well-being of our state and country,” Klobuchar said. “By constructing new taxiways, we are investing in the economy of the region and increasing capacity for safe, efficient air travel to and from Mankato.”

“Mankato Regional Airport is an economic driver for local communities,” Smith said. “This federal investment to help construct taxiways and streamline operations is important because airport infrastructure ought to be up-to-date. I'm looking forward to following the progress of these projects.”

The DOT grant funding will allow Mankato Regional Airport to improve its infrastructure by constructing multiple taxiways to streamline efficiency.
