WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar released the following statement on the announcement that the United States will withdraw from the Paris Climate Agreement:

"This is a big step backwards. The United States will join Syria and Nicaragua as the only three nations not a part of the climate change agreement. It’s the wrong decision for our economy and it’s the wrong decision for the environment. And, as military and security experts have reminded us, climate change is a threat to our national security, increasing risks of conflict, humanitarian crises, and damage to critical infrastructure. We need to keep building on the progress we’ve made to combat climate change and boost clean energy, not roll it back.”
